Applications of Verbenone |
Pest Control Use |
Verbenone functions as a semiochemical in pest control applications, especially in forestry pest control. It acts as an anti-aggregation pheromone to disrupt the colonization behavior of pine beetles. |
Fragrance Use |
Verbenone is a naturally occurring monoterpene ketone with a fresh, woody, and herbal aroma. It is occasionally used as a fragrance ingredient in perfumes and aromatherapy products to evoke a forest-like or green scent. |

Applications of Methyl Eugenol |
Pest Control Use |
Methyl Eugenol is a potent male attractant used in the control of various Bactrocera fruit fly species, such as Bactrocera dorsalis (oriental fruit fly) and Bactrocera zonata. These pests cause significant damage to tropical and subtropical fruit crops. Methyl Eugenol is applied in mass trapping and male annihilation techniques (MAT), where it is combined with a toxicant in lure-and-kill devices. This method significantly reduces male populations, disrupts mating, and lowers pest pressure in orchards. |
Flavor and Fragrance Use |
Methyl Eugenol occurs naturally in various essential oils such as clove, basil, and nutmeg. Though its use in flavor and fragrance applications is limited due to regulatory restrictions in some regions, it has been studied and historically used for its sweet, spicy, clove-like aroma. |

Applications of Codlemone |
Pest Control Use |
(E,E)-8,10-Dodecadien-1-ol (Codlemone) is the main component of the sex pheromone produced by female Cydia pomonella (codling moth), a major pest of apple, pear, and walnut orchards. It is widely used in pheromone traps to monitor and disrupt mating, reducing larval infestations without chemical insecticides. |
