(E,E)-8,10-Dodecadien-1-ol is a key sex pheromone component isolated and identified from female adults of the gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar). It is mainly used for population monitoring and green control of gypsy moths, often serving as a highly specific attractant alone or with a small amount of synergistic substances in traps. It can accurately attract male moths to grasp their population dynamics, and has less impact on non-target organisms compared with traditional chemical pesticides, thus being widely applied in the control of gypsy moths in ecosystems such as forests and orchards.
