Application

(E)-2-Hexenyl (E)-2-hexenoate is a compound with significant roles in insect pheromones. Studies have shown that this compound can be isolated from various insects, such as the scarab beetle Holotrichia parallela, whose sex pheromone components include ester compounds with similar structures. In practical applications, E2HE2H is often mixed with other pheromone components to enhance the attraction to target pests. For example, in the control of the rice leaf roller (Cnaphalocrocis medinalis), a 1:10 mixture of (E)-2-hexenal and sex pheromone can trap more than 30 male moths per trap per day, with monitoring accuracy improved by over 50% compared to traditional methods.
