| Application | Frontalin is a bicyclic-acetal aggregation pheromone shared by many Dendroctonus bark beetles, mediating mass aggregation and, at high density, anti-aggregation (spacing). It is a core monitoring component for the red turpentine beetle (D. valens), a major invasive pest in China, and the Chinese white-pine beetle (D. armandi). It is normally deployed in multi-component lures with host monoterpenes for monitoring and mass-trapping. |
