Biologie Adult moths are adept fliers exhibiting thanatosis (death-feigning behavior), predominantly mating and ovipositing nocturnally, with eggs deposited on palm leaf sheaths or trunk lesions. Larvae bore into trunks and crown meristems, causing trunk cavitation and apical decay—severe infestations induce whole-plant mortality. This devastating Arecaceae pest causes extensive damage across tropical/subtropical zones.
