| Application | (Z)-9-Heptacosene is a key component of the trail pheromone secreted from the mandibular glands of worker red imported fire ants (Solenopsis invicta), used to mark paths for nestmates; synthetic analogues are employed to enhance bait attractiveness or disrupt the ants' natural communication, and in monitoring and baiting strategies targeting this invasive pest, baits containing 0.1% synthetic 9Z-27 have shown up to a 40% increase in worker ant recruitment efficiency. |
